Long Distance Support

Why are we against the term ‘adoption’?

The children helped are not all orphans, they have parents who do not like the term “adopted”.

Why is it useless to help a child out of a cooperation program?

Having books and clothes is nice if your siblings and classmates can have them too

Long Distance Sponsorship

Long Distance Support aims to ensure a better future for children in developing countries through a voluntary donation by an individual or a group (schools, parishes, companies, etc.).

The term “support” is used instead of “adoption” because:

  • Preference is given to helping a group of children or a project rather than a sinbgle child to avoid inequalities within the same groups or communities.
  • The relationship between the Donor and the Child is a relationship that does not involve any constraints, other than moral and emotional ones, between child and supporter.

Long Distance Support does not create any legal constraints

There are three types of Long Distance Support’s projects: You can support:

  1. Directly a child;
  2. A group of children (a classroom, the children of a village, etc.);
  3. An educational/health facility for children.

Salute e Sviluppo privileges options 2 and 3, in the case of individual aid, is committed to insert donations into a programme that helps children in a community.

It is possible to contribute to a Long Distance Support by a group of friends, colleagues or by an association or a class. Tuttavia per questioni amministrative it is necessary to indicate only one name, which will be the recipient of the periodic sending of the news

25 euros per month in quarterly, half-yearly or annual solutions

Generally a child will receive support either for all the duration of the project in which he/she is involved or till the state of need will remain unchanged. the supporter can give up from Long Distance Support by giving two months’ notice in order to find a new supporter for the child.

At the moment of the accession, the private documentation of the supported child – including pictures and also the information regarding the use of the contribution and a description of the real time situation of the country in which the supported child live – is sent to the supporter. Every six months will be sent a reporton child’s condition and, possibly, the activies carried out by a specific project in which the child is involved

Generally, the average age of children to be supported is between 0 and 14 years. It is still possible to indicate a preference.
